Ohio Homesteads Barn Tour & Dinner & Art Exhibit Celebrating Rural Life

Ohio Homestead’s Art Exhibit at the Preble County Fine Arts Center runs from October 4-26 – Admission is FREE! All artwork on display is related to rural life in some way! A Best of Show Award will be selected by visitor vote. The Art Center is open to the public Tuesday to Saturday from 1-5pm at 601 Hillcrest Dr., Eaton, OH.

A Driving Barn Tour & Dinner On Sunday, October 21 starting at 1pm is a collaborative project between The Preble County Historical Society and The Preble County Fine Arts Center celebrating both art and history in our community. The Barn Tour & Dinner and Art Exhibit are hosting its third year of barn tour, dinner, and art!

The barn tours provide guests a view of barns in a way to truly appreciate their age, history and condition. The Barn Tour and Dinner has become an event that people look forward to attending. Reservations are limited so send in your reservations TODAY!

The Barn Tour begins at 12noon at the Preble County Fine Arts Center on Sunday, October 21 with an art exhibit celebrating barns and rural life. Tour attendees should arrive no later than 1:00pm, tour will leave in procession at 1:30pm, visiting three barns where barn historian Steve Gordon will give a casual but informative description of the architecture and history of the individual barns, including its historic and modern uses. He will also discuss how these multi-faceted buildings relate to the history of the farmsteads and the Preble County area. Barn owners will have family stories and photographs to share with guests.

Thirsty and famished guests will then join together for a scrumptious evening dinners, door prizes, and live musical entertainment with traditional Appalachian music by Warren and Judy Waldron will delight guests during dinner in the Bank Barn at the Preble County Historical Center, 7693 Swartsel Rd., Eaton, OH 45320. Cost of the barn tour and dinner is $35 per person.

The goal is to continue to provide cultural and educational activity for the community to learn about the prized structures that are disappearing from the local landscape.
