(Richmond, IN)--A fire Tuesday morning at an apartment building in the 1300 block of East Main Street has left one man severely burned. "Richmond police encountered a male subject in between the houses with his clothing on fire. The police officers immediately threw snow on the fire and extinguished the clothing," said Battalion Chief Tim Brown. Residents of eight other units were evacuated at 3 o’clock Tuesday morning. "We evacuated the entire building until we found out what type of extension and what kind of problem we had. We found nothing. All the occupants were able to return," Brown added. A couch was found on fire upstairs. Air ambulances were called but could not respond due to weather. The man was in critical condition shortly after arriving at Reid Hospital.
