(Centerville, IN)--The victim in Monday’s shooting in Centerville told investigators this week that her estranged husband, Danny Watson, did not mean to shoot her. That statement prompted an original attempted murder charge to be downgraded to a criminal recklessness charge Thursday. According to an affidavit, the victim now claims the shooting occurred when she was trying to take the gun from Watson in an attempt to keep him from hurting himself. Watson was not re-booked into jail Thursday. A source close to the situation has indicated he is on a 72-hour watch at a mental health facility.
