(Connersville, IN and Oxford, OH)--The Whitewater Valley could lose its Amtrak service if federal budget cuts of $2.4 billion are approved.  Amtrak runs through Connersville three times a week on what’s known as the Cardinal line that runs to Chicago.  The proposed cuts would eliminate federal subsidies for Amtrak.  Connersville was in the process of upgrading facilities at its Amtrak stop.  Oxford would also be affected.  It has worked for the last couple of years to add an Amtrak stop.
