(Richmond, IN)--East Main Street at 16th Street in Richmond remained closed Wednesday morning as officials assess the damage and begin to repair a large water main break that occurred late Tuesday afternoon. Water pouring from the 14-inch main forced the street, with its new pavement, to buckle and swell. By late Tuesday night, crews had begun to pump water from underneath the street’s surface. Indiana American could not put a time frame on complete repair. By Friday, some interstate traffic is expected to pass through that intersection as I-70 westbound is reduced to one lane.
