Local News with Jeff Lane

(Richmond, IN)--Bids were opened Thursday night for the demolition and removal of the old Reid Hospital buildings, and the news for the city is good.  Nearly all of the 18 bids that were opened in Council Chambers came in under estimates.  Bids to both remediate the land and demolish and remove debris ranged from about $2.6 to nearly $6.8 million.  Those figures are well below the initial estimate of $8.1 million.  Bids will be awarded next month after further examination.  Work is tentatively set to begin on the second day of the new year.
