(Wayne County, IN)--Wayne County’s death rate last year was well above the state average.  According to newly released figures from the state, Wayne County’s rate is 949 people per 100,000 residents, but the state rate is 835.  Even higher is Fayette County, which ranked 4th with 1005 residents.  The leading cause of death in Wayne County last year was cardiovascular disease.  Wayne County’s rate in that category was 18% higher than the state average.
