(Wayne County, IN)--Wayne County is facing losing two of its townships. There’s currently a Republican plan to eliminate 300 townships across Indiana. Townships with less than 1200 people would be merged into others over the course of the next five years. In Wayne County, that would eliminate Boston and Dalton Townships. Union County would lose four of its six townships, and Franklin County would lose seven of its 13. Proponents of the plan say it’s a way to reduce expenditures.
