(Wayne County, IN)--Many measures of economic well-being in Wayne County have improved greatly in the last three years according to the new Indiana Kids Count report.  The average number of Wayne County residents receiving food stamps is down by more than 2000 people and today sits at just over 10,000.  The median household income is up by $7000 and is today at $43,000.  But, Wayne County has also passed a negative threshold in the last three years.  More than half of the babies born locally are now born to unmarried parents.  That number stands today at 53%.  That’s the fifth highest percentage in Indiana.
