(Richmond, IN)--There’s no word yet on how – if at all – Richmond’s new Blue Buffalo plant will be affected by a buyout by General Mills. General Mills announced Thursday that it would buy Blue Buffalo Pet Products for roughly $8 billion in cash. The deal values the natural pet food company at $40 per share. Travis Moore, who is Blue Buffalo’s local plant manager, said last week that progress was being made toward a local opening. "Mid 2018 start-up...that's what we're still on schedule for. Things are going really well." The deal is expected to close by the end of this year.
