(Richmond, IN)--At 1:30 Friday afternoon, just 17 minutes short of the exact 50-year point since Richmond’s downtown explosion, an observance will be held at Elstro Plaza. That’s just a block away from what was Marting Arms and is now Elder-Beerman and the origin of two blasts that killed 41 people. There will be a moment of silence. Names of all 41 victims will be read. A new monument will be unveiled that will be placed temporarily in Elstro Plaza before moving to its permanent home at the Wayne County Historical Museum.
