(Richmond, IN)--A two-year extension was given to Wayne County’s needle exchange program on Wednesday.  The county’s commissioners have extended the program to at least June of 2020.  There were 61 participants in the first quarter of this year.  That’s a nearly 25% increase from the previous quarter.  Wayne County recently switched to a more unique syringe at the request of Prosecutor Mike Shipman.  Possessing a similar a syringe not obtained from the county is a criminal offense.
