(Richmond, IN)--A 23-year-old Richmond man who had already racked up a lengthy criminal record was sentenced to 14 years in prison Thursday. Kory Owens had reached a plea deal last month. Last March, Owens was caught with cocaine and Xanax. Last April, he was arrested after a 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg. Owens then hit someone who was riding a scooter as Owens was driving the shooting victim to the hospital. Also, a man who police described as a key member of a Richmond drug organization was sentenced to a decade in prison Thursday. 38-year-old John Sester was sentenced for three charges involving several incidents. In one case last March, officers recovered ten pounds of marijuana and some Oxycontin from Sester’s home on Randolph Street. Sester is also a convicted attempted robber.
