(Richmond, IN)--An incident in the 200 block of South 15^th in Richmond Thursday resulted in a public intoxication arrest, but it could have been much worse.  RPD officers responded to a report of several people fighting.  When they arrived, they noticed one man who was allegedly drunk and armed with an AK-47 assault rifle with 36 rounds of ammunition.  That man was identified as 28-year-old Brian Smith.  Smith was reportedly trying to hide the AK-47 behind his back.  Police reports indicate Smith admitted to taking part in the fight, but would not discuss the rifle.  He’s currently free on bond.
