(Richmond, IN)--Sunday is a special day for the family of Niqui McCown. They’re holding an event to remember her on the anniversary of her disappearance in 2001. "By celebrating my mother's life, she's not forgotten. It's been a long time since she disappeared," said Payton Johnston, Niqui's daugter. She said it’s an upbeat event. "We want people to not be sad about it because being sad or dwelling on it is not going to bring her back," Johnston explained. The public is invited. For the family, it’s a chance to offer thanks. "The support doesn't go unnoticed. If we could thank them all and hug them all individually, we definitely would," Johnston said. It begins at 3 Sunday afternoon at Shelter #10 in Glen Miller Park.
