INDOT INSTALLING FLASHING YELLOW ARROWS

In replacement of current left turn traffic lights, INDOT will be installing new lights with a flashing yellow arrow, something current traffic lights do not have. The new lights will allow more left turns in each cycle, which will improve intersection efficiency. The flashing yellow arrow will stand for yielding to oncoming traffic, while the solid yellow arrow will stand for stopping if able to safely. INDOT program director Harry Maginity says the project will take five to eight years to complete statewide.
