(Richmond, IN)--The case of racial graffiti and a truck fire at the home of a black Richmond plastic surgeon appears to have been an orchestrated hoax by a member of the household. Charges of false informing were filed Thursday against Jonathan Powell. Powell is the husband of Dr. Myla Bennett. He is accused of lying to state police investigators about the February incident on Sandbridge Drive. Powell has a criminal history. Dr. Bennett married him the day before he went to prison for an armed robbery. Although no motive for the graffiti was released, Dr. Bennett was under contract locally but had pursued another job in Atlanta before the incident. She told blackamericaweb.com that she was afraid to return to her Richmond home.
