HISTORIC DEPOT TO SELL; REDEVELOPMENT TO HEAR OVER $670,000 IN DEPOT DISTRICT FUNDING REQUESTS

(Richmond, IN)--Richmond’s Historic Depot is selling, and with that sale comes a request for half a million dollars in Redevelopment Commission money.  Better Homes & Gardens Realty is purchasing the building from a Roger Richert LLC.  On Wednesday, the Redevelopment Commission will consider the request, which the new owners have indicated is for stabilization of the building.  Better Homes & Gardens plans to utilize the Depot’s second floor for its own office space, while the ground floor would be available for a restaurant, microbrewery, or retail space.  Developers hope to have the Depot ready to use by next spring.  Also, just weeks after a controversial decision to give $80,000 to one Depot District business, the Richmond Redevelopment Commission Wednesday will hear a request for more than twice that much.  The owner of the building at North 10th and E that is home to the 4th Floor Blues Club and Maria Mitrione Catering will ask for $170,000 for a new elevator.  Rick Parker said it would help develop other businesses in the building.
