EXPENSES EXCEED REVENUE IN CURRENT VERSION OF 2016 RICHMOND BUDGET

(Richmond, IN)--Richmond Common Council met as a Committee of the Whole Monday night to look at next year’s budget.  Right now, according to City Controller Sandra Spencer, the city is on track to spend more money than it takes in in 2016.  Most department heads indicated that there is little room in their respective budgets for cuts.  Also, Human Resources Director Sue Roberson said that an across-the-board pay raise for city employees would be difficult.  Recommended reductions will be presented to council at its October 5 meeting.
