COUNCIL DISCUSSES BUDGET CUTS, PAY

(Richmond, IN)--Richmond Common Council Monday night discussed budgets and salaries.  Nearly $7 million is being cut from this year’s budget to balance it, including $3.3 million that was incorrectly carried over from 2014.  Also, employees’ salaries are currently set to remain the same as last year.  "All I did was basically change the dates on it and then a few minor changes for jobs that have been adjusted," said Controller Sandra Spencer.  Pay will also stay the same for elected officials.  "No pay increases," said Council President Dr. Ron Oler.  Salary ordinances come back on second reading when council meets again.
