(Pershing, IN)--Is there a bear on the loose in Pershing?  That’s what one resident who called 911 Tuesday morning claims.  Law enforcement officers were sent out at around 1 o’clock Tuesday morning and searched for the bear throughout Pershing for half an hour, but came up empty.  There have been bears not far from the Whitewater Valley.  Last summer, a bear was caught on Cincinnati’s east side.  There is also a growing bear population in the Great Lakes areas of Indiana and Ohio.
