(Richmond, IN)--There’s a big announcement from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. Mike Shipman has announced the implementation of a drug diversion agreement. Here’s how it works. If someone is caught in possession of drugs, they will be given the opportunity to go through a treatment program. If that person completes the program, and submits to hepatitis and HIV testing, criminal charges for drug possession will be dropped. If that person fails the drug treatment program or refuses to take part, charges will remain in place. Shipman stressed that drug dealers are not eligible.
