(Winchester, IN)--A potential disaster was averted in Winchester Monday morning. At just before 2 o’clock Monday morning, officers saw a train engine on fire as it passed through Winchester. Flames were shooting five feet above the engine. And, that train had just picked up 80 train car loads of fuel from the Cardinal Ethanol plant. Officers were able to stop the train near County Road 375 West. One house was evacuated. Fire crews were able to get the fire out before it spread to the fuel cars.
