COUPLE CRASHES INTO HOUSE AFTER ALLEGED SHOPLIFTING

(Richmond, IN)--A car crashed into a house in Richmond late Sunday night shortly after two people allegedly shoplifted from Meijer.  Two people later identified as 25-year-old Michael Qualls and 23-year-old Jesstin Dean were in a car that crashed into a house in the 700 block of Locust Drive.  "They did some damage to the house.  It knocked some brick off and pushed some walls in on the inside.  Structurally, it was still sound," said Battalion Chief Charlie Bartlett.  No one inside the house was hurt.  Qualls and Dean had walked away when loss prevention officers tried to stop them at Meijer.  Qualls was found with stolen candy in his pocket.  Both he and Dean were taken to the Wayne County Jail.
