AREA DEER TESTS POSITIVE FOR BOVINE TUBERCULOSIS; TESTING REQUIRED FOR HUNTERS

(Franklin County, IN)--Listen up if you’re a deer hunter or know someone who is…at least one white-tailed deer in Franklin County has tested positive for bovine tuberculosis.  It’s the first time the disease has ever been found in a wild animal in Indiana.  For deer hunters in the Whitewater Valley, it means that deer harvested in at least a ten-mile radius must be sampled for laboratory testing.  It’s a federal requirement.  The Department of Natural Resources will be releasing more information to hunters in the coming weeks.
