ROBERSON RESPONDS TO BEING PLACED ON PAID LEAVE

(Richmond, IN)--Richmond Human Resources Director Sue Roberson is on paid administrative leave, but she says she’s the victim of a crime.  Mayor Dave Snow issued a memo saying Roberson was on paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation.  Snow declined to provide further details Monday afternoon, but did indicate the investigation is being conducted by an outside party.  Roberson said the suspension is the result of her falling victim to a scam, but that no taxpayer dollars were lost.  She indicated she had sent money to someone claiming to be on the verge of losing their home due to medical bills.  The Human Resources office will re-open Wednesday.  "I just think the mayor wants to be cautious" Roberson said.  She’s unsure why, if she was the victim of a crime as she claims, that she would be suspended.  "Actually, I struggle.  You would have to ask him.  I really don't know the answer to that," Roberson explained.  Roberson said Tuesday morning that she did not feel it was a personal vendetta.  "I can't say that I feel like he's not on my side.  I believe he did what he felt like he needed to do."
