WORK BEGINS TO CLEAN UP OLD REID

(Richmond, IN)--Work began Wednesday to clean up parts of the old Reid Hospital building.  Barnhizer and Associates began to remove areas damaged by arsonists.  Jason Barnhizer described part of the process.  "Remove the burnt part of the awning so we can expose the brick.  We'll get up here with a large lift and we're going to pressure clean and chemically clean all of that soot that you can see on the side of the building."  Graffiti is also being removed from the top of the building.  They will not be doing any actual demolition.  Environmental issues and a cost of anywhere between $6 and $12 million are preventing that.
