(Cambridge City, IN)--A large group of concerned citizens in the Western Wayne School District is looking for answers from administrators regarding a host of issues. The group identifies itself as the Western Wayne Parents Coalition and was formed earlier this year as the result of a controversial suspension of a teacher. Specifically, the group wants to know about the school’s relationship with the Indiana Excel Academy, which promotes education at an individualized pace. The coalition is also concerned about Assistant Superintendent George Philhower, who they say spends extended time out of the district speaking about personalized learning programs. Additionally, the group alleges there is not adquate parental representation on various committees as recommended by the state. Neither Western Wayne Superintendent Dr. Robert Mahon nor the school's attorney have returned multiple calls from Kicks 96 and the Point News.
