COUNCILOR MILLER OBJECTS TO LOAN APPLICATION

(RICHMOND)- At least one Richmond Common Council member does not want the city to apply for a loan from the state to pay for the demolition of the old Reid Hospital property. Councilor Clay Miller wants the city to use nearly five million dollars in reserve funds to pay for the project. The demolition is expected to cost at least 7.7 million dollars, and the city has already applied for the zero-interest loan. Last week, the council approved using TIF money to repay the loan.
