(Richmond, IN)--A Reid Health surgeon, who is also a Puerto Rican native, will be headed to that island soon to help with Hurricane Maria relief efforts. Dr. Sara Diaz Valentin has organized a local effort to get medication to the island. "Instead of just lamenting or complaining that help is not getting in, it was easier to figure out what I could do," Dr. Diaz-Valentin said She consulted with Reid, which then donated all kinds of supplies. "We're talking about insulin for diabetics. We're talking about antibiotics," she added. Dr. Diaz-Valentin will head to Puerto Rico in the next few days to personally deliver the supplies and fill in for overworked physicians there.
