(Richmond, IN)--Earlier this year, Indiana legislators urged the Indiana State Police to do an audit to find out how many untested sexual assault kits existed. Those kits contain evidence of rapes and other crimes that could help to convict the suspect. Although there are 2600 kits of untested evidence statewide, there are only three in the Whitewater Valley. Wayne, Union, and Fayette County each had one untested kit. Each kit costs about a thousand dollars to test.
