OPTIONS PRESENTED TO RCS BOARD INCLUDE BUILDING CLOSURES

(Richmond, IN)--On Wednesday night, the Richmond Community School Board heard more from a consultant who is addressing the system’s capacity and declining enrollment.  Right now, the district has room for 1400 more students than are currently enrolled, and that gap is expected to widen with a predicted loss of another 400 students in the next decade.  Some of the options presented Wednesday night ranged from simply redistricting students to something much more drastic…closing the Starr, Vaile, and Hibberd buildings while moving 8th graders to the high school and 4th graders to intermediate buildings.  The consultant stressed those are only options, and not actual recommendations.
