(Wayne County, IN)--Thanks, but no thanks. That was the message from Wayne County Commissioners Wednesday to leaders of INDOT about a proposal to change U.S. 40 between Richmond and Centerville that would’ve converted the highway to one lane in each direction with a turn lane in the middle. Wayne County Commissioners unanimously rejected the idea Wednesday. The plan was overwhelmingly unpopular among citizens, business owners, and town boards in Richmond, Centerville, and Cambridge City. INDOT is still scheduled to repave much of 40 between Richmond and Centerville next year.
