(Richmond, IN)--Richmond Common Council has been dealing this week with the city’s budget for next year. It’s a budget that has presented challenges. There is an expected $800,000 shortfall in tax collections. And, because of the way the calendar falls, there’s an extra pay period for city employees in 2020 that will cost the city more than $600,000. Richmond Mayor Dave Snow has called the situation an anomaly and said that city services will not be cut. The city’s cash balance is expected to drop by about a million dollars.
