(Richmond, IN)--An organization has reached its financial goal to convert part of Mary Scott Park in Richmond into a public-access fruit orchard. The goal was to raise $17,500. On Monday, the total was $200 higher than that. Funding will secure fencing and other materials. The orchard would provide continuous free access to food through the growing season and will serve as a learning tool for students at next-door Dennis Intermediate School. Installation would begin in September of next year.
