(Richmond, IN)--A date has now been set for the burial of a Richmond Marine who died in World War II. Over the weekend, a POW/MIA agency announced that the remains of Louis Wiesehan were positively identified through DNA. Wiesehan was 20 years old who had left Richmond to defend a small island in the Pacific. He was killed by the Japanese in the second day of fighting in November of 1943 and had been buried on that small island until 2014. The remains were excavated and have now been identified. Wiesehan’s remains will be returned to Richmond and buried on April 18.
