JUVENILE OD's TWICE AT WERNLE, ATTACKS REID NURSES

(Richmond, IN)--An incident at Wernle Youth and Family Treatment Center in Richmond earlier this week remains under investigation.  A 15-year-old boy overdosed on an unspecified drug.  He was sent to Reid Health where he battered two nurses and escaped into the Oak Park neighborhood.  He was captured and sent back to Wernle, where he overdosed again.  The extent of any injuries to nurses was not disclosed.  There’s also no word on how the boy obtained the drugs.  It’s the latest in a long list of police interventions at Wernle.  Last year, there were 84 calls for police service to Wernle.  There were 63 reports of runaways.  That includes an 11-year-old child who was reported to have run away five separate times.
