PROSECUTOR HIGHLIGHTS NEEDLE EXCHANGE CALAMITIES

(Richmond, IN)--Wayne County Prosecutor Mike Shipman is providing details about some of the more egregious recent cases of overdose as he works to stop the renewal of the needle exchange program.  One recent case occurred in January on North 16th in Richmond.  Two parents were using drugs in a bathroom, including the father, who was on the toilet, with two young girls in that bathroom.  Both parents passed out.  Their bodies trapped the young girls in the bathroom.  The girls were rescued and the mother was revived, but the father later died.  Inside the pocket of the man who died was an uncapped needle from the needle exchange program.  While Shipman fights against renewal, the Health Department is pushing for it.  Kicks 96 and The Point News will highlight other cases in advance of Wednesday’s meeting.
