You have less than a week if you want to submit a public comment about the proposed rate increase from Richmond Power and Light. R-P-and-L wants a three-phase increase in electricity rates between 2021 and 2023. The rate hike would add around 15 dollars to the average power bill. The utility says it needs the extra revenue because of increased costs to operate and to make improvements to its distribution system. You can comment online until June 30th at the website of the state’s Office of Consumer Counselor. A public hearing will be next Monday June 29th at the Richmond Municipal Building.
