(Richmond, IN)--The mother of the boy who shot his way inside Dennis Intermediate School and eventually took his own life in a stairwell was sentenced Thursday. 44-year-old Mary York made a call to 911 nearly two years ago to warn the school that her son was on his way. Charges alleged that call came way too late and that York ignored warning signs and failed to get her son help. On Thursday, she pleaded guilty to four counts of neglect of a dependent. She was sentenced to two and a half years of probation. If she completes probation, the convictions will be converted to misdemeanors. York on Thursday apologized to all the kids who were at Dennis that day.
