(Wayne County, IN)--There was a startling weekend update regarding Covid-19 update from Christine Stinson, who is the Executive Director of the Wayne County Health Department. In an email sent on Saturday morning, Stinson said that Wayne County would surpass the 2000-case mark on that day. This is what Stinson wrote to members of the media:
"I wanted to get a quick announcement to you. Wayne County has seen a dramatic increase in cases over the past two weeks, today will will (the word "will" was written twice) surpass the 2000 case mark."
The state’s dashboard, though, does not reflect the dramatic increase. According to it, Wayne County has had 1149 cases. If Wayne County were to – or already has - hit the 2000-case mark, it would mean that the number of cases has doubled in just the last week. Wayne County surpassed the 1000-case mark early last week. Free testing continues at the former Elder-Beerman building in Richmond and at a location in Cambridge City.
