(Richmond, IN)--A local bank announced this week that it would close a Richmond branch to merge with one in Liberty.  In April, First Merchants Bank will no longer operate a branch on Chester Boulevard.  It will merge into the branch on West Union Street in Liberty.  A statement from First Merchants indicated the merger was due mostly to the increased use of online and mobile banking from their clients.
