(Wayne County, IN)--On Wednesday, the Wayne County Board of Health recommended that the county extend the mask mandate beyond this coming Tuesday, which is when it will end on the state level. The Health Board indicated that it will follow CDC guidelines, and that federal agency has set no end date to mask-wearing. It’s important to note, though, that local elected officials will make the final call about whether or not to end the mandate on Tuesday. That includes Wayne County Commissioners and Richmond Mayor Dave Snow. It’s a virtual certainty that Wayne County commissioners will issue an extension. Two of the three said last week that they felt it was too early to end the mask mandate. The Wayne County Health Board will address the mandate each time it meets. Wayne County would be one of only four statewide to extend the mandate.
