(Wayne County, IN)--With less than 24 hours before Indiana’s statewide mask mandate will come to an end, but was still no official word from the city of Richmond or Wayne County on whether or not the mandate will be extended locally. The county’s Board of Health recommended an extension last week, but it takes elected representatives at the city or county level to make and extension official. Richmond Common Council meets Monday night, meaning an announcement is possible. But county commissioners won’t meet until Wednesday, so the mask mandate at the county level will remain in place at least until then. Only five of 92 Indiana counties have a recommended extension. Wayne County is one of them.
