(Wayne County, IN)--Wayne County overdose deaths are rising at an alarming rate. Wayne County Coroner Kevin Fouche on Thursday called it a major problem. As of Thursday, Wayne County has already had 33 deaths this year due to drug overdose with another ten cases likely but still pending. It puts the county on pass to surpass its 2020 total of overdose deaths by August and take the total over 120 for the year. Fouche said Thursday that ¾ of the deaths this year have involved opiates and, of those, 80% involved fentanyl. One person had already overdosed Friday morning in the Family Dollar parking lot.
