RCS NEEDS TWO DOZEN TEACHERS AS FIRST DAY LOOMS

(Richmond, IN)--The first day of school for Richmond Community Schools is less than two weeks away, and there is a long list of openings for teachers.  According to information on the school district’s website this week, RCS has openings for 24 full-time teachers.  There are also openings for another 44 administrators, counselors, and other staff – and that does not include bus drivers and substitute teachers.  Teaching shortages are not only an RCS issue, but its rate is significantly higher than other area schools.  RCS needs one full-time teacher for every 191 students.  Northeastern, for example, needs one for every 313 students.  Centerville and Eaton schools list no full-time openings for teachers.
