(Richmond, IN)--A lengthy standoff that began with a shooting has come to an end. At just before 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon, Richmond police were called to the 1800 block of Rich Road. There, they found a woman who had been shot multiple times in the back. The 81-year-old male suspect had barricaded himself inside. Police then used multiple tactics to get the suspect out, including tear gas and water from a fire hose. Scanner traffic also indicated that the suspect fired multiple shots at police. At just before midnight, the suspect exited holding a gun and was shot. As of 6 a.m. Friday, there was no word on the condition of the man. The victim is expected to survive. Identities have not been released. Scanner traffic indicated that incident began with a dispute over a property line.
