I love the fact that Tim McGraw feels confident enough to experiment with cover songs, often branching outside of country music Think about it, he's done Suspicions by Eddie Rabbitt, Tiny Dancer by Elton John, and (When the) Stars Go Blue by Ryan Adams, just to name a few.
I was surprised and elated to hear that the first song that Tim is releasing from his new album is a cover song from 1984 by the band The Cars. Ironically, the original version of the song has a very slight connection to country music as it was produced by Shania Twain's ex-husband John "Mutt" Lange. If you listen to the original version of the song, you'll hear that Tim stayed very true to the original.
Hopefully, this will also be the first single from his as-of-yet named new album.
Check out Tim's new version and then check out the original version.
