(Indianapolis, IN)--State Senator Jeff Raatz of Richmond has authored a bill that has created a stir on both sides of the political aisle.  Raatz’s bill would require schools to inform parents if students request to change their names or pronouns, or generally express questions about their gender identity.  The student’s parents would have to be notified within five days.  Raatz is the chair of the Senate Education Committee.  He said in a written statement "parents should know if their child is struggling and shouldn’t be kept from the situation."
