RCS BOARD TABLES PROPOSAL TO DELAY START OF SCHOOL DAY

(Richmond, IN)--The Richmond Community School Board this week addressed a proposal that would mean later morning start times and less actual time in the classroom beginning at the start of the next school year.  Under the proposal, elementary students would start at 8:05 each morning.  But, Test and RHS students wouldn’t start their day until 8:50 each morning.  Dennis wouldn’t start until 9:05.  Several people addressed the Board and shared concerns about decreased class time and logistical issues.  "That's time at home that will be unsupervised.  Who will get them to the bus?  Those are things that need to be addressed," said one speaker.  The Board tabled the issue and will address it again at a later date.
